Care instructions
What Is Rose/Gold Plate?
Rose/ gold plate is a layer of rose gold or gold applied over the base metal and requires a little care and attention to prolong its lifetime. Always remove your gold plated jewellery when applying perfume, lotions and potions, or even better, always put your jewellery on last when getting dressed.
Caring For Gold Plated Jewellery
Rose/ gold plate is not permanent and will naturally wear over time. To help slow this process we advise you to do the following:
-
Remove jewellery when bathing, showering or swimming as water and chemicals (especially chlorine) will affect the longevity of the gold plating
-
Chemicals in make-up, hair spray, perfume and moisturisers will discolour gold plate, so apply these first and allow them to dry before wearing your jewellery.
-
Remove jewellery when sleeping, doing household tasks such as cleaning, playing sport and exercising or other strenuous activities since jewellery may become tangled, scratched or harmed by sharp blows.
-
Do not wear your jewellery whilst on the beach or sunbathing since extreme temperatures and strong UV rays can cause gemstones to fade in colour and lose their original beauty, whilst sand will scratch and fade the gold plated surface.
As with all fine things in life, you should take care to protect your jewellery and always store in the box or pouch provided.
Cleaning Rose/Gold Plated Jewellery
Gently clean your rose/ gold plated jewellery with a soft polishing cloth after each wear. Alternatively you can clean it by using a lukewarm soapy mixture and a soft cloth. The soap you use should be a non oily, mild dishwashing liquid - do not use ones which have oxides in them or anti-bacterial properties. After washing with the soft cloth and soapy water, you should rinse the piece and use another soft cloth to dry and polish it. Do not use polishing agents, abrasive compounds or have gold plated jewellery machine polished as these processes will wear away at the layer of gold.
