Fluid Branch Post Earrings are made from copper with a rhodium finish. The posts are made from surgical steel.

Plated fashion jewellery requires a higher level of care to prolong its lifetime than jewellery made from precious or solid metals does. It's designed to look great at an attractive price but may only appear at its best for a limited time if not carefully maintained, due to the inherent properties of the materials used. What Is Rhodium Plate?
Rhodium plate is a layer of rhodium applied over the base metal and requires a little care and attention to prolong its lifetime. Always remove your rhodium plated jewellery when applying perfume, lotions and potions, or even better, always put your jewellery on last when getting dressed.

 

Caring For Plated Base Metal/Fashion Jewellery
Rhodium plate is not permanent and will naturally wear over time. To help slow this process we advise you to do the following:

• Remove jewellery when bathing, showering or swimming as water and chemicals (especially chlorine) will affect the longevity of the rhodium plating.

• Chemicals in make-up, hair spray, perfume and moisturisers will discolour rhodium plate, so apply these first and allow them to dry before wearing your jewellery.

• Remove jewellery when sleeping, doing household tasks such as cleaning, playing sport and excercising or other strenuous activities since jewellery may become tangled, scratched or harmed by sharp blows.

• Do not wear your jewellery whilst on the beach or sunbathing since extreme temperatures and strong UV rays can cause gemstones to fade in colour and lose their original beauty, whilst sand will scratch and fade the rhodium plated surface.

As with all fine things in life, you should take care to protect your jewellery and always store in the box or pouch provided.

 

Cleaning Rhodium Plated Base Metal/Fashion Jewellery

Gently clean your rhodium plated base metal jewellery with a soft polishing cloth after each wear. Alternatively you can clean it using a damp cloth but make sure to use another soft cloth to dry it again straight away. Do not use polishing agents, abrasive compounds or have rhodium plated base metal jewellery machine polished as these processes will wear away at the layer of rhodium and expose the base metal below.
